For reduced industrial accidents, occupational disease and work-related illness, risk assessment is crucial. Our experience over the years can be helpful to you for appropriate risk assessment of all types of cranes and hoists relating to all aspects or work performed by crane operators and riggers.

European Council Directive 89/391/EEC mandates employers to plan and implement all occupational safety measures necessary to safeguard the health of their employees.

The risk assessment serves to define risks in working areas or at specific workplaces and forms the basis for measures that have to be taken by the owner of an installation. The objective of risk assessment is to help eliminate causes at their source or to reduce risks by means of technical or organisational measures or by the employees’ personal conduct.

Scope of services:
  • Initial assessments
  • Assessments following malfunctions or major changes
  • Assessments periodically
  • Demarcation of areas of activity
  • Discussions with supervisors and equipment operators
  • Identification and assessment of risks
  • Identification of required measures
  • Documentation of the risk assessment

We perform Safe Working Period (SWP) Calculation to provide you accurate and authentic information on the remaining service life of your chain and rope hoists. We calculate the loads lifted by your hoist and the elapsed share of its theoretical duration of service, which enables us to guarantee the remaining safe working period (SWP). Since we have vast experience of numerous products, we can conveniently perform checks for a chain or rope hoist of any brand.

Legal Adherence:

An owner and operator of rope and chain hoists is required to check them at least once per year according to pertaining regulations. The elapsed share of their theoretical safe working period must also be calculated.

Safety:

Safe and reliable load handling is of prime importance in materials handling installations. Ageing and wear, however, can easily result in hazards, which may become highly dangerous if they are not addressed in good time.

Further benefits:
  • Reliable and up-to-date information about the remaining duration of service
  • Early detection of hazards caused by material fatigue
  • Efficient planning of measures
  • Early notification of any required general overhaul or replacement

Our clients have well founded trust in the Safety Inspection by us for your electrical equipment. First, we conduct a meeting with you to discuss any measures that may be necessary to maintain or restore the safety and reliability of your electrical equipment according to relevant accident prevention regulations and codes of practice. In this way, we help you to ensure compliance with all safety regulations.

Legal:

Employers are mandated to ensure that electrical equipment is in good operating condition before it is put into service and at regular intervals. Electrical equipment as defined by relevant accident prevention regulations includes all equipment that can be used as a whole or as individual parts for the application of electric power or for the transfer, distribution and processing of information. Furthermore, it also includes plant and installations that are created by combining electric equipment. They are considered to be safe if there is no direct or indirect danger of personal injury if they are correctly operated and used as intended. Their "safe condition" also includes any protection required against external factors.

Recommended Periodic Inspections:

Inspection intervals must be selected to ensure that any defects that occur can be detected in good time. Property insurers and MET Cranes recommend regular inspections for cranes. The inspection must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with all relevant electrical regulations.
